Cabela’s Coming to Gainesville

L.F. Jennings has been selected to construct their second Cabela’s retail center, this time in Gainesville, Virginia. Cabela’s new retail center will provide hunting, fishing, camping, shooting and other related merchandise to the surrounding area.

CR Architects from Denver Colorado are responsible for the store’s striking design. The building will feature the company’s well-known lodge-inspired theme, featuring high ceilings, raw exposed wood, stone masonry and large windows. The one story, 80,000 (Approximate) square foot building will contain an extravagant gun library, ample retail space, a fudge shop and more. These features will be complemented by an impressive mountain display, lively aquarium and an attractive interior design.

The project site is located near the intersection of Wellington Branch and Limestone Drive in Gainesville Virginia near Lee Highway.

Construction is scheduled to begin by this winter and the anticipated completion date will be spring 2017.

L.F. Jennings Awarded Two New Contracts at Booming Pike and Rose

L.F. Jennings was recently awarded two new projects at Pike & Rose; a premier and quickly growing mixed use development in the heart of Montgomery County. These two projects are Block 1A and Block 8. Both are free standing two story retail buildings, poised to be great additions to the successful mixed use corridor.

Block 8 located on Rose Avenue will host REI, an outdoor recreation and sporting goods store. REI’s new store will feature a rustic yet modern design. Reclaimed wood and brick are complimented nicely by contemporary vertical and etched metal paneling. The building will also allow for natural light to pour into the space through large warehouse style windows. Additionally, the store’s entrances will be framed by large wood and steel trellises. Callison RTKL is the building’s architect.

Block 1A, also on Rose Avenue is a 2 story retail building, anchored by Pinstripes out of Chicago. Pinstripes offers a unique entertainment experience, combining all the fun of bowling with craft cocktails and Italian-American cuisine. Pinstripes’ entry faces the Pike & Rose central park and the restaurant and outdoor cafe seating are on the ground floor. The entire second level is occupied by Pinstripes and includes bowling lanes and an outdoor terrace on both the east and west sides of the building. The east terrace will have a bar and overlook the park. The remainder of the ground floor is street retail, anticipating 3-5 retailers/restaurants on the street. R2L is the building’s architect.

Construction Underway for West Broad Marketplace in Short Pump, VA.

West Broad Marketplace, located in Short Pump Virginia, will be a 284,200 square foot neighborhood retail center, anchored by a Wegmans grocery store and a Cabela’s sporting goods store [An additional L.F. Jennings Project]. The site is situated along West Broad Street, Rt 250, where the Cabela’s and Wegmans are already well under construction.

The retail center’s architectural design blends the rustic language of the anchor tenants with contemporary forms. Monumental tapered Stone columns and open steel roof trusses highlight the sub-anchor Marquees. In addition to masonry and fiber cement siding, the materials palette includes various metal elements such as steel lintels, corrugated metal, and slatted metal sign bands. Bignell & Watkins Hasser is responsible for the buildings design.

This is an exciting project for the Short Pump area, and will deliver in total over 400,000 square feet of new retail space. The first tenant openings are planned for 1st quarter 2016.

L.F. Jennings to Complete the New Stohlman Subaru Dealership in Sterling, VA.

A brand new Subaru dealership will be completed this November on Auto World Circle in Sterling, Virginia. The project was awarded to L.F. Jennings in 2014 and construction began in early December.

L.F. Jennings is responsible for completing all site work and building construction on the 6.62 acre lot. The project features approximately a 24,790 square foot service building and a large paved parking surface, all to provide ample space for a vast Subaru collection.

The service building will also boast a handsome storefront, featuring aspects such as; masonry work that includes both brick and stone, a wood engineered rain screen, large kalwall skylights and other high-end finishes. The architect responsible is Penny Design Group, LLC.

L.F. Jennings is excited to complete the project and make way for a brand new fleet of Subaru vehicles.

L.F. Jennings wins 4 awards at the 2015 ABC Excellence in Construction Awards

L.F. Jennings won 4 awards at the 2015 ABC Excellence in Construction Awards Competition, taking home awards in the categories of Commercial, Commercial/Residential Renovation, Retail and Retail Interior.

Winning Projects:

The Sycamore House at the Willowsford Community – Ashburn, VA:
The Sycamore House is the centerpiece for the Willowsford Community. This 12,000 square foot clubhouse was designed to be elegantly in tune with the historic environment in which it was built. Over 70% of the wood used throughout the building was harvested on site. Furthermore, much of the stone and wood used in the clubhouse was re-claimed from a previous historical structure built on the property circa 1800. The Sycamore House’s styling features white brick, large pane windows, metal roofing and large columns.

Bill Page Honda- Falls Church, VA:
The Bill Page Honda dealership is a mixed use 240,000 square foot commercial center. The development contains a full Honda dealership, a parking garage, and 77,000 square feet of retail space. The dealership itself is housed in a four-story precast concrete building consisting of a 3 level, 158,000 square foot parking garage, overtop of a 63,000 square foot state of the art sales and service center.

Whole Foods- Columbia, MD:
Whole Foods received an entirely new 60,000 square foot interior. Some of the Whole Foods’ key features include a polished floor, decorative walls and wood work displays around the store’s perimeter to highlight the key sections such as the bakery or produce sections.

Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center- Washington, DC:
The Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center is an exquisite project that seamlessly repurposed three buildings in downtown Washington, DC to become a 40,000 square foot, scholastic center for Omani culture. The exterior responds to the styling of the historic district while the interior emulates Omani architecture. The design also effectively captures traditional Omani symbolism and combines it with striking modern finishes. The building had entirely new mechanical and electrical systems installed with high-end mill work.

L.F. Jennings Awarded Contract to Build Local Motors’ New Micro-Factory and Retail Center at National Harbor

L.F. Jennings will build Local Motors’ state of the art development hub at National Harbor this year. Local Motors is a revolutionary company that has become famed for their unique approach to building highly customizable vehicles at unprecedented speeds. For example, Local Motors was the first company to manufacture a road ready 3-D printed car. This new facility will produce these vehicles and be responsible for the world’s first fleet of 3-D printed cars. Local Motors also produces a high performance off road vehicle, a vintage racing motorcycle, a motorized bike and a motorized drift trike (All pictured above).

The facility will be a 20,000 sf interior fit out project, designed by Bignell Watkins Hasser. The finished job will be comprised of: a lab for the co-creation and research of their vehicles, a showroom/retail center, and a build floor for the assembly of the various products and vehicles. One of the signature features of the facility will be a winding ramp from the second to first floor, perfect for displaying the capabilities of the companies drift trike, The Verrado.

L.F. Jennings Awarded Contract for New Multifamily Development on the Corner of Florida Avenue and Champlain Street in Washington, DC.

L.F. Jennings will begin construction of a new market rate rental apartment project for Kettler Inc. The project will be conveniently located on the corner of Florida Avenue and Champlain Street, in the Adams Morgan District of Washington, DC. R2L Architects is the architect for the project.

The building will consist of 4 levels of wood framed apartments over a 2 level podium which contains additional apartment units, amenity space, and a parking garage. Residential gross square footage will be 106,000, and include 132 apartments. The parking garage will contain 19,900 gross square footage and will allow 46 resident parking spaces.

Tenants will have the option of either a studio, 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom apartment, some of which have private rooftop patios. The building’s unit mix distribution includes 36% studios, 59% 1 bedrooms and 5% 2 bedrooms. The average unit size will be 640 net square feet.

The planned apartment building will be an attractive upgrade for the corner of Florida Avenue and Champlain Street. The new building will replace the existing unappealing parking garage and two story retail structure, both of which will be razed in the initial phase of the project.

The project’s facade will feature a number of masonry materials and aluminum windows keeping within the architectural style of the neighborhood. Brick selections of various colors and coursings as well as cast stone accents will be the predominant materials used. The roofline will feature a detailed cornice with roof structures clad in metal panels and fiber cement siding. An inviting courtyard and carriageway lead to the main lobby, leasing center, and interior amenity space. A rooftop amenity space and roof deck are also planned. This luxury apartment complex is scheduled to open first quarter of 2017 and provide many well needed residences to the Adams Morgan District.

Corporate Interiors Division at LF Jennings Awarded Numerous New Projects

The Corporate Interiors division at LF Jennings, headed by Jeff Black, has recently been awarded multiple new contracts in the DC Metro area to be delivered this fall 2015. Here are a select few of the division’s newest projects:

The Fitness Equation at One Loudoun: This new luxury health club will be located in the Building A at the rapidly growing development, One Loudoun. The base building (Building A) is also an L.F. Jennings project and The Fitness Equation will occupy the structures top two floors. The health club will feature a rock wall, basketball court, a full spa, a yoga room, fitness class rooms, and all of the essential exercise equipment and weights. This is a project for Potomac Development and was designed by Fabiano Designs International.

Vantage Apartments at Merrifield: L.F. Jennings will be upgrading the common areas of this luxury apartment complex in the Mosaic District. Tasks include the rental office, fitness center, courtyard amenities, an upgraded pool area, and new elevator lobbies. The project is for Kettler Inc. and the architect is Ortega Design Architecture Studio.

Management Concepts in Tysons Corner: Tenant renovation and expansion for two floors at their Tysons Corner headquarters. This includes all new finishes, updated break rooms, and a lobby/reception area upgrade. The M group is the architect responsible for the 30,000 square foot project.

Dimensions Data in Ashburn: Dimensions Data is further expanding their Ashburn location. This will be a 10,000 square foot expansion with high end finishes. The project will add a new conference room and main reception area. DBI is the architect responsible and the owner is Lenkin Property Management.

L.F. Jennings Awarded Contract for Cascades Overlook in Sterling, VA.

L.F. Jennings is proud to announce being awarded the Cascades Overlook project in Loudoun County. Cascades Overlook’s cutting edge design integrates a town center with a traditional grocer anchored retail center. Harris Teeter has already signed to be the grocery anchor, along with a number of other supporting retailers.

This mixed-use development will contain 32 residential condos, approximately 8,000 square feet of office space, approximately 135,000 square feet of retail space, and approximately 8,600 square feet of civic areas, all on the 13 acre site. Some of the key amenities available will be convenience shops, restaurants and a parking garage.

Brown Craig Turner is the Architect responsible for the development’s modern and tasteful design. The buildings will feature a mixed material facade, utilizing warm natural resources such as wood siding, timbers and stone. This styling will be complimented by crisp/industrial inspired metal panels, large windows and decorative flat roofing. The apartments above the retail space will be constructed in a crescent-shape, facing a central green space.

The common walking areas in Cascades Overlook will be exceptionally pedestrian friendly, providing outdoor seating, stone terraces, a small performance area, fountains and greenery.

The project site is off Potomac View Road near the Sterling Costco. This development will bring many well needed amenities to the surrounding area.

Construction began fall 2014 and is anticipated to be completed 1st quarter 2016.
